This research area revives and expands UP Manila’s work on neonatal and pediatric liver conditions, with emphasis on early detection, rare diseases, and health systems strengthening.
Key activities include retrospective and prospective studies on hyperbilirubinemia and neonatal hepatitis, feasibility work on genetic screening for pediatric liver syndromes, and collaboration with newborn screening programs and pediatric centers. Outputs may include clinical profiles of pediatric liver disorders and data to support integration of liver function assessment into neonatal care guidelines.
