Support Us
Help connect liver research with better care in the Philippines. We welcome conversations about supporting defined activities, shared capacity, and the continuity of our work.
The Case for Investment
Better liver health requires both scientific progress and practical ways to bring prevention, diagnosis, and treatment within reach. Research can help explain where gaps occur, which approaches work, and what it takes to sustain them.
The UPM Liver Study Group brings together complementary disciplines to connect research with real-world care and policy questions. Explore our projects and team to learn about the work and people behind the group.
Alongside funding for individual projects, we are exploring support for the coordination and shared capacity that help research continue between grants. Any new activity will be developed around an agreed purpose, realistic costs, available expertise, and appropriate institutional approvals.
Why Support the UPM Liver Study Group
Continuity across projects
Sustained support can help maintain coordination, research records, partnerships, and the development of future studies between grants.
More equitable care
Research and implementation partnerships can help identify barriers to liver care and test practical ways to reach underserved communities.
A lasting research community
Support can help researchers share expertise, mentor emerging investigators, and carry forward UP Manila's tradition of liver research.
Evidence that can be used
Connecting researchers, health services, communities, and policymakers can help translate findings into decisions and improvements in care.
Ways to Support
These are areas for discussion. Specific opportunities, budgets, and arrangements will be confirmed with the group and the relevant institutional offices before a commitment is made.
Research coordination & continuity
Discuss support for the essential coordination, partnership development, and proposal preparation that help the group sustain its work.
Research & implementation
Explore support for defined studies and implementation activities across viral hepatitis, metabolic liver disease, pediatric liver disease, and liver cancer.
Shared research resources
Explore opportunities to strengthen data stewardship and biospecimen resources, subject to feasibility, ethical governance, and a plan for continuing costs.
Policy & financing evidence
Support research on care pathways, costs, and access to help inform health-service and financing decisions.
Training & emerging investigators
Discuss support for mentorship, research training, and early-career opportunities aligned with available supervision and project needs.
Expertise & partnerships
Contribute technical expertise, institutional collaboration, or appropriate in-kind resources alongside financial support.
Our Commitment to Independence
Scientific integrity, academic independence, and respect for patients and communities guide our work. Proposed support will be reviewed through the relevant institutional processes, including applicable ethics and conflict-of-interest requirements. Funding arrangements should protect independent analysis and publication, with clear disclosure of support.
Discussing a Contribution
We welcome inquiries from individuals, families, alumni, diaspora supporters, foundations, funding agencies, and corporate or academic partners. Please contact us to discuss a suitable purpose and the appropriate institutional route for support.
Before proceeding, we will clarify the receiving institution, permitted use of funds or resources, acknowledgment, and reporting arrangements with the relevant offices.
Giving is voluntary. Contributions must not affect access to care or clinical decisions, or provide preferential treatment.
Let's talk
Whether you represent a funding agency, foundation, industry partner, academic consortium, or are an individual or diaspora supporter, we would be glad to discuss how we can work together to advance liver health in the Philippines.
